Glass half dome paperweight with Ballerina Dancer (Ballet Danseuse, 1877) painting by artist Edgar Degas (1834-1917). The ballet dancer reaches her arms out and looks up at the audience. A floor light brightly illuminates her face, dress, and tutu. She seems to glow inside of a darker stage scene like an angel. This vibrant blue painting appears inside a half dome glass paperweight. The accent colors on the painting are white, light green, brown, and brown black. It could be given to someone taking ballet classes or as an achievement award after a recital.

Edgar Degas (1834-1917):Edgar Degas was a cynical, loner and snob who, as the son of Parisian banker, could dedicate his life to art. In 1874, he organized the first exhibition of independent artists who were dubbed the impressionists by a critic. He however continued to consider himself an unsentimental realist. "I know nothing of inspiration, spontaneity and temperament". The ballet of l'Opera was one of Degas' favorite subjects which he captured using subtle, seemingly accidental compositions with unexpected perspectives.
